Celeste is still in that convenient phase where she wears whatever we put her in, there have to be some easy things about a 7 month old after all. She is eating well, hasn't turned her nose up at anything yet. Sleep is patchy although usually good during the day. One night this week she slept for 12 hours, unfortunately Mark and I both experienced quite bad insomnia and were awake for about three hours during the night, incredibly frustrating. I tend to end up sleeping in Celeste's room most nights as it is easier to tend to her and then crash in the bed next to her cot. She wakes every few hours crying out for some reason or other... needs the dummy (bad habit but one we're prepared to live with), sore gums, rolled onto tummy and can't get back.... She is babbling a fair bit (mamama which is only fair as Stella's first sound was dadada) and has recently started making an odd growling sound, all experimenting with her voice I guess. She is sitting up well and trying to get up on her knees when on her tummy but ends up sliding backwards and away from her target which makes her a bit angry. When she is well fed, entertained and not tired, she is a wee angel and ready with big smiles for anyone who comes her way. I do sense she may be more highly strung than Stella was at the same age but we'll see, I shouldn't label her and all of that, but it is hard not to compare.

All About Celeste (and a bit about Stella)

Jolly Jumper
I know Plunket etc aren't keen on Jolly Jumpers so have not used it however Celeste was being a bit whingy this evening so I gave her a go and she loooved it. Her strong little legs got into the swing of things very quickly and put on a good show for Stella too. They both have colds, Stella is a couple of days behind Celeste so we have had a very quiet weekend. For the first time ever Stella fell asleep while Mark was reading her bedtime stories (they were only onto story number 2!) She has been very good-natured throughout this whole cold which has made it more bearable for all of us. She has definitely accepted Celeste as part of the family now, she was asking when Celeste was going to wake up this afternoon as she wanted to play with her.
The pic with Granny was taken last weekend, click here to see Stella in a similar pose at a similar age.
The Climbing Frame
Thanks to our good friend Polly, we were alerted to a great special at Farmers on these climbing frames. Stella's #1 activity is still hanging from things so it is probably the best purchase we have made in ages. Celeste likes to watch Stella do her "fips" (flips) and tricks. Stella likes to pretend she is stuck and yells out for help, depending on who I am she may yell "help me Miss Clavel/ (the nun teacher from the Madeline series) Chloe (Madeline's friend)/ Neil (one of the Funky Monkeys)/ Murray (from the Wiggles)." I'm sure the neighbours think we are mad. I forget who I am from day to day however Stella is very good and remembering who is supposed to be who at any one time. The other day when she was at the park with Nana, she introduced herself as Greg to a little boy, he looked a little confused! Stella has been enjoying her Funky Monkey CDs and DVD very much, so much so that we have been asked to read her Tweenies book in Funky Monkey style. This involves replacing names as follows: Fizz becomes Chris, Bella becomes Neil, Milo becomes Dizzy Dog, Jake becomes Joe and Doodles the Dog remains Doodles. It really is very good for the brain!
Couldn't resist posting the last pic, one of my favourite sights, two children sleeping at the same time.
